Queries |

0. What does maasika haraTe kaTTe mean?
A. Literally translated it means "Monthly Chat Platform" in Kannada.
Just to give it a local flavour. However, the meeting in itself has no linguistic affiliation and all languages are allowed.
1. What is a free flow agenda?
A. An agenda without a fixed set of topics. The aim of the meeting is to
facilitate the "social interaction between intelligent people".
2. So what normally
happens at an MHK?
A: MHK is an occasion to relax and catch up with mensan
buddies so what happens depends on the mood of those present. You'll see some
folks playing indoor games such as Scrabble, Monopoly or UNO. A few others will
be cracking jokes. Yet others will be in animated conversation on topics that
interest them – politics, technology, history, stock markets or new
places they’ve been to. And for all the talk about super high IQs, rarely
does anyone ever talk about nuclear physics.
3. Sounds good. So who pays for all
this?
A. You pay for your food and refreshments. On an average, the per head share of the bill is Rs. 100
4. Why is the venue My
Tea House?
A. Because it is
a nice quiet place undiscovered (as yet) by all 17 yr olds and their
girlfriends, to borrow a phrase.
5. Can I bring along a friend who is a
non-mensan?
A. It is preferred to keep it a mensans only meeting.
6. I have not paid my membership dues.
Can I still turn up at the meet?
A. Normally not. You need to be a dues paid member to attend. Download membership
application form
7. I'd like to conduct a quiz at the
meeting / I’ve this great board game but nobody to play it with / I’ve
recently been to some interesting places and have some great snaps. Can I do
some such activity?
A. Yes, you can. You are free to do your own thing at the MHK, so long as it is
within the ambit of acceptable practices of a mensa meeting.
8. I can’t come in at 4:30 sharp.
What do I do?
A. Come when you want, leave when you like. Return when you can.
9. Do I need to confirm my attendance
beforehand?
A. Not required.
10. I don’t know any other mensans
in
A. If you think that the best way to cultivate social contacts at mensa is
to not attend any meets, closet yourself in your home/office and then complain,
suit yourself.
11. What are all these references to thinly veiled dancing girls that keep cropping up during an MHK?
A. It is an inside joke. Ask any of the old timers and they'll let you in on it.
